When George Lucas first filmed A New Hope, it wasn’t James Earl Jones who was initially hired to be Vader, but instead a 6 foot 7 inch tall body builder named David Prowse. Prowse’s performance was overdubbed by Jones eventually, partly because his voice did not sound menacing enough.
